I have a family member who recently travelled to Europe and brought me back a kit as a gift. It is a beautiful Luca-s kit that calls for gobelin stitches. However, when I looked further into it, they say that gobelin stitch and petit point are interchangeable. And that the back of your work has to look like the back of a tent stitch. The fabric included is a 25ct evenweave. From the description, it sounds like they use those 3 stitches interchangeably. But I know them as 3 different things. Am I wrong? Also, to me, it sounds like the whole thing really just needs to be done in tent stitch all around. Does anyone know if in Europe they have different definitions for their types of stitches?
To me a petit point is only done on Penelope evenweave. Gobelin is on evenweave butt usually jumps over several points, and I’ve mostly seen is as a straight stitch. Tent is done as a slant in a upper right to lower left stitch, with the back looking slanted in the opposite direction.
What am I missing?
