I don't know if everyone feels this way so I'll write this as a form of rant instead of question. I am so tired of having the "I have Crohn's" conversation with people who don't know what Crohn's is. Or even worse " that's the disease where you poop a lot and stuff right?". I've tried to find ways to explain it so it's not extremely technical and also that it's not just about pooping a lot. I've failed. Now if someone doesn't know or thinks the poop thing I say that it is more about troubles with the colon and there are many problems to deal with beyond pooping. Also, that it is incurable, painful and life changing. Is anyone else sick of having that conversation?
Edit: For the record. I used to be civil and a little embarrassed to explain it. Then after a while it started frustrating me so now when that happens I say " I've had 34 surgeries since 2008 and died 4 times during 3 of those surgeries, so yeah it's a pretty serious disease. Now do you have any more questions?" That usually shuts them up.
