I was diagnosed with Crohn's in 2000 and was managing it for 8 years. In 2008 I had a colonoscopy and was sent home. The next day I was found passed out on the floor. So I was rushed to the hospital and it took 8 days, of the worst pain I've ever felt, to find I had been perforated and I was septic and needed emergency surgery right then. So I had to have a bag and Foley drains and wound vac and an open wound from sternum to pelvis for four months. Since then I've had 34 more surgeries for different things to my abdomin. Sorry for the history I just want you to have a clear picture. Why is Crohn's considered a chronic disease but not bad enough for pain management with real pain medication? To explain, my Dr told my wife that I live my life at, what I call, a 7 which to her would be like contractions. And when I say I'm at a 9 it would be like child birth. Why is Crohn's on the medical marijuana list to help with pain but Drs won't help? I don't know how others feel but I'm tired of always being in pain. It's miserable. What is your opinion?
