I want to buy yarn for basic crafts like coasters and keychains, but I also want to do amigurumi soon. Where/what should I buy?

Post Body
I just got paid and ran out of the yarn my friend was letting me keep to practice with. Should I trust yarn kits on amazon? And would they still be useful for amigurumi eventually? Or should I buy from elsewhere? I ask because the kits are cheaper come with hooks, but Iām iffy on quality and such. But if I buy from, say, JoAnn (getting Caron Simply Soft), I can get better colors, at a bit of a higher price, with more yards of each, but no hooks. What would you do? Please help!
