I've seen a few posts lately about best XIs and one comment that's often made is, "you can't have two spinners" and I wondered...why is that? In nearly half of the countries (India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Sri Lanka) that have test cricket, you'll definitely be starting two spinners, if not 3 (certainly a part time spinner), so why is it that we so often default to 3 quicks and 1 spinner?
Is it bias that we're stuck in from a sport that, until recently, was dominated and ruled by Aus and England where that imbalance towards pace makes sense? Or is it something else?
