Crested gecko not eating, what to do?

Post Body

So, about a month ago, I moved with my crested gecko. An 8 hour car ride, split up between two days. I got him a new tank at my new place, the same kind he had before, and all the things inside of it are the same. However, he’s been very scarcely eating since we moved. I can get him to eat if I hand feed him (I know some say to never hand feed, I do it for bonding mainly, especially since at our old place, he used to lick the drop off the chopstick every bonding session and then eat out of the bowl himself during the night just fine). He has only eaten out of his bowl in his tank a few times since we moved.

The temperature hasn’t changed much, except he’s not getting as much of a night drop. He used to be around 74-76 during the day, dropping down to 70-72 at night. Now he’s pretty steady at 71. The humidity is a problem, I haven’t been able to get his tank humidity to drop below 70. The apartment’s humidity is around 50, but I suspect that will go down as the temperature gets cooler.

This week, I bought wax worms and meal worms to get him to eat. I now know meal worms aren’t very nutritious, but I’ve been calcium dusting them and then covering them in fig and insect pangea before feeding, and he loves them, especially the wax worms. I was happy because he ate for the first time in over a week, but now I’m not sure if that’s good for him or not.

Why won’t he eat like he used to? Should I keep trying to hand feed and offer bugs? How many bugs should he eat a week, or am I doing more harm than good with that? Is it the humidity? What can I do to get the humidity to drop?
