I have one of the old 1% cash back cards with Wells Fargo and I have made it a socket drawer card and have shifted to the Chase Ecosystem (Reserve, Freedom unlimited, Freedom Flex) for most of my spending. The WF (Previously Wachovia) was my first credit card in university over a decade ago, so I want to keep it for the length of credit (everything else is from 2019 ) but the card is really lackluster.
With the better 2% cash back card and the new autograph, I could make it a sound backup card (e.g., if I lost my CSR, or on categories not highlighted in Chase), but I don't know if giving up the SUB makes sense.
I don't think that WF cards offer a significant use case for me at the moment unless I am missing something, but want to make my current card better. Is it advisable to go ahead and make the change and forgo the SUB? I'm not sure I want a ton of cards I don't really plan to use, but I feel like ignoring easy money is silly.
