How does Credit Karma determine chance of approval?

I know, I know, I shouldn't care what CK says but I was browsing around and the data points are all over the place. It shows excellent for WF and BOA cards. Very good for Citi cards and out of nowhere fair for the Apple Card and poor for the SoFi card. I'll be 2/12 next month with a FICO in the mid 700's/high 700's if using FICO 9 and CK says I can't get the Apple or SoFi card? Is this more to do with how much they get for referrals?
