I currently have a card for restaurant/gas, and one used for online shopping AND groceries. I'd like to have a card rewarding grocery shopping.
Post Body

CREDIT PROFILE

  • Current credit cards: Discover IT (opened in Oct 2020 as secured $200 line, was upgraded to unsecured $1.5k line around July 2021); NFCU CashRewards (opened in April 2021 to a 2.2k line, NFCU auto-upgraded to 3.7k line in Oct 2021)
  • FICO Scores with source: 728 (Discover/TransUnion as of 10/14/21); 741 (NFCU/Equifax as of 10/03/21)
  • Oldest credit card age: 1 year
  • # of credit cards approved in last 6 months: 1
  • # of credit cards approved in last 12 months: 2
  • # of credit cards approved in last 24 months: 2
  • Annual income: $11,115 (may be strongly underestimated based on part time hours)

CATEGORIES:

  • OK with category specific cards? For groceries/supermarkets, yes. I don't want to add anymore than one card at this time.
  • OK with category-rotating cards? No.
  • Estimate average monthly spend below. Include only what you can pay by credit card.
    • Dining: $200 (this is a cost I'm attempting to cut, and heavily influenced by having a job in food service)
    • Groceries: $30-50
    • Gas: $0
    • Travel: $0
    • Do you plan on using this card abroad for a significant length of time? No.
    • Any other categories? I pay a promo price of about $73 to COX, which is expected to increase next year.
    • Any other significant regular credit card spending not included above? I pay $9.99/month for YTPremium, and $4/month for Nintendo Switch Online.
    • Can you pay rent by credit card? Do not currently pay rent.

MEMBERSHIPS

  • Current member of Amazon Prime, Costco, Sam's Club, or Verizon Postpaid? No.
  • Current member of Chase, US Bank, or any other big bank? Navy Federal Credit Union
  • Active U.S. military? Immediate family member to a veteran
  • Open to business cards? Don't have a need for them at the moment.

PURPOSE

  • What's the purpose of your next card? Rewards (gift cards/merchandise or cashback)
  • Do you have any cards you've been looking at? I'm flipping between AMEX's Everyday Card and NFCU's MoreRewards. I'm leaning towards the latter because I don't like AMEX's design, for one, and I have a 4-year banking history (debit card and savings acct) with NFCU. Secondly, I don't like the $25 minimum for redemption.

Thirdly, I am not sure whether to prioritize cashback or gift cards/merchandise rewards. I was always under the impression that "points" were redeemed for travel, but given AMEX isn't widely accepted abroad (irrelevant to me anyways), I'd appreciate an explanation if the latter card is recommended (or any card involving points).
