My car is in the shop and I'm trying to lessen the blow of the expense by snagging a SUB.
My FICO 8 according to Amex is 760. My income is $65k/yr. Last card approved for was 08/2019. I was rejected 08/2020 for the Chase Freedom due to a bankruptcy still on my report. Recon made a big stink about how they lost money in the bankruptcy. I think it's only on there for another year. No lates and never carry a balance.
I used the BOA pre-selected tool and the Cash Rewards card was at the top. Does this mean I am more likely to be approved for this card? I did see the Premium Rewards card under that but it wasn't highlighted with images like the Cash Rewards.
I do like the Cash Rewards better than the Premium Rewards, especially for the 3% back on online shopping and no AF. I'd probably need to use Plastiq for the MSP on the Premium Rewards, so another consideration.
Last, I did use CardMatch and nothing interesting showed except the Citi Premier 60k offer. I don't travel much. How easy is it to turn ThankYou pts into statement credit or gift cards? My biggest monthly spend is grocery.
I don't have a banking relationship with BOA or Citi. I do have a banking relationship with WF and had considered the $150 SUB for the Cashwise card. Propel doesn't make sense since the SUB is $200, same as BOA Cash Rewards, I already have the Cap1 Savor and MSP is higher.
I really dislike wasting hard pulls. That Chase Freedom denial in August burned. So which card sounds best for me: BOA Cash Rewards, Premium Rewards, Citi Premier or WF Cashwise?
Thanks in advance!
Update
I didn't want to waste a hard pull and couldn't remember if BOA was in my bankruptcy or if they kept a blacklist, so I went WF Propel. Instantly approved for $9k. :-)
Did the math on the SUB between the Propel and Cashwise. It would take ~$3,500 in spend on the Cashwise to make up the opportunity cost lost, $50, not going with the Propel. It also gives me a nice fall back option if I can't justify the Savor AF or get them to product change to something useful.
All in all, happy with my decision!
