Card Reco for Travel Nurse (hotels, no flights)
Post Body

Probably a stupid question but in need of advice. My partner is a travel nurse and we are looking to put her travel expenses on one card for ease of tax tracking but also for the rewards. We're not opposed to being brand loyal (stays at one particular hotel) as she's usually traveling for work in major metro areas where most every hotel brand is there.

I'm not sure the chase sapphire that everyone points to is the best option for us, but it might be. There is usually very little airfare, just hotel stays, gas, food.

Is there a particular card that will give us some nice benefits to allow for personal travel given the scenario we find ourselves in?'

  • Current Cards:
    • BoA Cash Rewards (2009, 14k limit)
    • Chase Freedom (2006, 3500 limit)
    • Chase Slate (2010, 3800 limit)
  • FICO score: 815
  • Oldest Account Age: 13 years
  • Chase 5/24: 0/24
  • Income: Approx. $100k

  • Average Monthly Spend:

    • Dining: ~ $600
    • Groceries: ~ $400
    • Gas: ~ $250
    • Travel: ~ $1200 (almost exclusively hotels)
    • Other: ~ $500
  • Open to business cards: Unsure.

  • Purpose: To use card for tax tracking while earning rewards at same time.

  • Any cards looked at: Chase Sapphire, Hilton AMEX (but not sure about either)

  • Category Spending: If it means higher rewards, sure. General spending cards fine also.
