Close Short History Cards?

I've been playing the bonus and 0% promo game for a few years. Once the bonus is paid and the promo period is over, I have little use for them. They don't have great points programs. As a result, I have several cards in the 2-3 year history range that I seldom use.
There are new cards I want for new bonuses, but I don't want to get too many cards open at once. 4-5 would be good for me.
How much effect is there to close these as long as I keep the longer term ones?
