I travel a lot for work and get reimbursed for all my travel, so I would like to optimize the points/cash back I get as much as possible. My team usually stays in Marriotts and I currently have a CSR.
The way I see it I have 3 options: Chase portal: 10x UR points
Marriott direct w/ CSR: 3x UR points 11x bonvoy pts assuming silver elite
Marriott direct w/ Boundless 18.5x bonvoy pts assuming gold elite
Assuming UR are 1.5cpp and bonvoy pts are 0.7, the portal would give me an effective 15% back in flexible points, while booking direct would give me 12.95 or 12.20% back in either all or mostly inflexible Marriott points.
I know there is probably some benefit to obtaining hotel status or just getting a bonvoy card for the SUB, but is there any reason why I shouldn’t just book all my stays through chase? I know people here hate portals, but I’ve only had good experiences with chase customer service and it’s all corporate travel anyway.
