Long story short, I was approved for the Amex Plat (not sure if relevant but the SUB was 150,000 MR points through a link I found).

I ended up cancelling the card about a month into holding it, and never hit the sign up bonus or came close to the deadline for it.

The rep on the phone who helped me cancel made it sound like if I wanted to ‘reactivate’ the card in the future I could keep working towards the SUB but in fact around a month later another rep told me I would have to reapply and I would not be eligible to earn a SUB again. Even though I never actually made it to the first one before cancelling the card.

It kind of sucks and as of now my goal is to upgrade my CSP to the CSR this month.

Does anyone have data points on how they were able to get another SUB on an Amex card? Or are there generally no exceptions to the once per lifetime rule?
