Post Body

I’ve read a number of threads on here that are close to helping me out, but I figured it wouldn’t hurt to get some opinions from people that have heard my specific situation (and that know much more than me). Thanks in advance!

I really don’t know much about the credit card market. I’ve had the same credit card with my primary bank since I finished high school and that’s it. I’m 25 with a pretty good ‘young professional’ job and I want to apply for a second card to build credit and try to take advantage of some reward options.

My current credit score is somewhere around 760 and I pay every balance in full basically right after it posts. As of now, I probably only spend about $500 a month on my credit card aside from months with inconsistent larger purchases. I don’t really pay any bills with my credit card as of now (insurance, cell phone, internet), but I would be more than happy to if I got something out of it lol. Most of this is spent on gas, groceries, shopping, eating out etc. I don’t travel a ton, but probably book 2-4 round trip domestic flights a year.

I’ve considered one of the Southwest cards because of their new customer points promo and because I almost always end up flying with Southwest, but it seems like it might lag behind other cards when it comes to anything other than flights. Chase, Capital One, and Amex have options I think might fit, but I’m having a hard time differentiating and identifying what would really help me with one over the other. Any advice is super appreciated! Thanks again!
