are you allowed to take money off the pass line?

Was thinking about this and google was no help.

Say you put $100 on pass line during the come out roll, once point is established, are you allowed to reduce your bet to say $25 on pass and $75 in odds?

I think it's illegal because you could profit on the come out rolls with 7,11 because their probability combined equals ~22% of getting rolled while rolling a crap number is ~11% combined probably.

I've never heard anyone even trying it so it's worth the ask.

It would then be a profitable strategy for the player to bet large on the pass during the come out roll and then reduce it for odds once the point is established. Am I crazy?
