Has anyone here done adult open hockey at ice den?

I want to try it out, but don’t have gear and haven’t played since I was a kid. What is the skill level like? Is it pretty friendly to inexperienced players?
Did an open skate today and forgot how much fun it is being on the ice. But I want to be able to have a stick and puck to play around with.
