Advice for fastening new hat band

Hello,
I swapped out the hat band that came with my Stetson Marshall with another leather band. The buckle doesn’t tighten the band enough to keep it from falling off or rotating while wearing it. What king of glue is recommended to secure a hat band on a hat like this (previous band was glued on). I don’t want to damage the hat by using the wrong stuff. Thank you!
