I grew up in Southeastern Oklahoma where my mom listened to classic country like Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and etc. So I've always had a respect for country music, especially western and outlaw country. Unfortunately, when I was in middle and high school the era of Bro Country hit hard and made me hate country music due to that being all I would hear in a locker room and on the radio. I've recently been trying to dip my toe back in to regain my love for a genre that was so close to my childhood. I just don't know what county musicians to start with. The few new county artists I have started that journey back to county are Midland, Luke Combs, & Turnpike Troubadours. The classic country artists that I loved listening to were Merle Haggard, Johnny Cash, Dolly Patron, Garth Brooks, & Marty Robbins if you count him as county. I would appreciate artist recommendations and album and song recommendations from those artists. Thank y'all.
