I’ve been feeling this way for a while and I’m wondering if anyone else feels the same. Let me preface this by saying that I adore LC - I would say I’m a huge fan. I have all his Crocs, his posters, his Merch, etc.
But I will say I feel that LC is overplayed and now overhyped. He’s partnering with everyone now, big brands, etc. He’s churning out music that sounds super samey (yes, I know billy strings but that’s one song). I feel in many ways he’s sold out - not necessarily politically or whatever people want to accuse him of but mainly in his sound. His first album was astronomical in its feeling of originality, his second and deluxe reissue second not so much. I feel like he’s so occupied backing the Nashville Stars baseball team, running his Merch collabs, hanging with famous streamers etc that he’s forgotten the humble folks and the fans. He shot to fame so quickly - literally 0 to 1000 in about a year or two, that I wonder how he’s been caught up in it.
Idk maybe it’s just me. I still love that guy and enjoy his music but I can see why Wallen, even as problematic as he is, has shot past him - I see wallen replacing combs very soon.
Idk, I see combs just not being talked about as much in the next two years. I see him really fizzling oit. He’ll always have his fan base but he won’t be at this level of superstardom anymore.
What do y’all think?
Combs is pretty much a bore, IMO.
Sam Hunt's album is amazing so I disagree.

Hard disagree. Montevallo is commercially far more successful, but it was impossible to match what he did. The time and place for that album was impeccable.
However.. song for song.. it matches up. 2016, Nothing Lasts Forever, That Ain't Beautiful, Drinkin' Too Much...
It's a SAD album. It's not happy, by any means.
