I have a question. I know Iāll never see these women again, but there are a number of instances in which Iāve gotten the sense that older women were flirting with me, but have never been quite sure. Just wanted to see what people on this sub thought.
The first incident happened way back when I was 21, nearly six years ago, but Iāve been mulling it over lately. It regards whether or not customer I talked to at work was hitting on me or not, as Iām not quite the best at figuring out these type of things. So, essentially I was at the register checking customers out, when a really attractive woman in her mid to late thirties ended up sort of strutting up to the register, and then I began to do the transaction. We talked for about a minute ago after she said that she usually drives about an hour from where she lives just to come to the store where I work because itās the only one in the area. I asked where she lived, and she told me. She was sort of smiling the whole time she was talking to me, and the whole time she was sort of flashing her wedding ring - subtly, but noticeably...as if maybe she wanted me to notice? I donāt know. She seemed pretty moody at first, but she lit up a bit when we started making small-talk. Like, I don't even know what the conversation was about, but she seemed pretty talkative. Anyway, so we have to ask for a zip code when making the sale, and she gave one I didn't recognize. So I asked her where that was. She said the name of her town and then...winked at me with a smile. Like, it was strange. I wanted to ask what the wink was for, but I restrained myself (there was a long line). I thought about subtly sliding a piece of paper and a pen towards her across the counter, but decided against it. When we finished the transaction I handed her the bag, and said thanks, before winking at me again and walking out of the store? Was she just being nice, or was she seriously flirting with me? She was constantly twiddling with her wedding ring towards the end.
Additionally - and these instances were more recent - I walked by a woman, who seemed to be in her early forties, at a bar when I was returning to my seat (twice - once after bathroom and once after grabbing a beer) and both times she smiled warmly in my direction. She seemed to be with a friend. She was a table over from me, but I do not know if she kept looking. She knew that I saw her, and I didnāt really respond. Was that a sign she wanted me to talk to her? This was a busy Friday night, and she was dressed nice. Not in a conspicuous, party-dress kinda way, but kind of like an fashionable, upper-middle class, āshops at expensive stores at the mallā kind of way. Was that a hint that she wanted me to approach her?
Finally, at my old job, there was a lady - maybe late forties - who needed help finding some items. After I assisted her, she came back to me and asked if I could help her find some more things, even though the item scheme was very obvious. I had to help other costumers throughout the night, but she always kept coming up and tried talking with me. She was friendly, but it was distracting me from helping others. Either way, she consistently went out of her way to have an actual conversation with me several times, which Iām normally all for (Iāve always liked getting to know customers), but it was super busy that evening. I helped her find about twelve different items over an accumulated course of probably close to thirty minutes. She only left with one or two of them in the end. What do you guys have to say about these?
