Is it okay to buy colored contacts online?

Post Body

I have a con in 5 days and have just realized that i forgot to buy colored contacts, i could probably get them in time if i order them off Amazon, but i looked online and some people were saying that it's dangerous to do (and also the contacts might not fit me).

My parents won't bring me anywhere to get them irl so online is my only option even for the future.

Have you guys had any bad experiences with contact lenses you ordered online? Will i have to just suck it up and go with my natural eye color moving forward?

If it's in less than a week, you're not gonna get them on time, even if you order from Amazon--but PLEASE don't order from Amazon. Go to a website that specifically deals with contact lens. I've had a lot of luck with Uniqso orders coming fairly quickly, and the only issues I've had with their lenses were from me specifically doing something I knew I shouldn't (keeping them too long, wearing them when my eyes were already really dry, etc.).

Keep in mind: UNIQSO ARE NOT FDA APPROVED. THEY ARE COSMETIC LENSES. THEY ARE INHERENTLY MORE DANGEROUS THAN NORMAL LENSES AND NOT MEANT FOR CONSTANT USE. THEY COME WITH UNAVOIDABLE RISK.

However, if you're thorough in researching eye and lens care tutorials beforehand, are vigilant with upkeep, and you throw the lenses out when their time comes or if they consistently bother your eyes, you should be okay. I only wear mine for cosplay or at the gym, but they treat me well because I treat them well. You HAVE to have good contact lens hygiene, with all lenses but especially with cosmetic ones, since they're not really meant to last as long or be as comfortable.

I would very very VERY highly suggest getting fitted for lenses by an optometrist if you're serious about getting contacts later. Even if you don't order from the optometrist, it'll give you a good guide to follow as closely as possible later on. If you're gonna do something dumb, might as well do it in a smart way XD

Tldr: It's a no-go this time around, but you might still be able to get them for next time if you're smart about it.
