Spoilers for Mistborn Era 2 and Emporer’s soul!

Mistborn was my introduction to Sanderson and it hooked me like nothing else. I read every mistborn book before knowing what the cosmere was… well I learned about cosmere stuff during Era 2. I stand firm that other books aren’t required reading before The Lost Metal, I was just as mystified and curious as Marasi was when learning about the skills of her crew in the book. I’ve since read all of stormlight, and it was honestly hype hearing about the ghost bloods knowing Kelsier was the leader. With the order I read, I knew that in book 2 which made the Ghostbloods interesting to read about.

Anyway on to the point of this post. I had no knowledge of what would be in emperors soup. The minute that I read that Shai used stamps my mind was blown!! This is Midnight’s backstory! And that’s what it was for me. I basically watched avengers first then watched iron man after. It was so cool and I was already hooked since I’d seen what she could do. She never turned all glowy and powerful so that must’ve been something she learned in between the books but still so so cool.

That’s all that’s my rant… I think people get too focused on recommended reading orders when things can be read backwards and still fully enjoyed.
