Hi everyone so for a little context. My mom who's from Argentina had to go back last year before covid has really started because of a death in the family. A year and half later she is still there and the covid cases are the worst they've been this entire pandemic for them. Shes high risk and we've been trying to get her out of the country for a while now. We just got news she got an appointment for tomorrow to get vaccinated down there. Currently the vaccines in use down there are the astrazeneca and sputnik vaccines. However, much like the UK, Argentina has been delaying second dos3s for up to 3 months with some of the vaccines. My question is if its worth her getting vaccinated tomorrow and returning to the u.s with only one dose and just waiting for booster shots/next wave of vaccines this upcoming fall/winter. Or get the vaccine and hope that it'll get approved for use in the u.s within the next couple months. Or the last scenario of her not getting vaccinated, traveling back to the u.s going into quarantine hopefully not getting sick and than getting vaccinated in the u.s? Any advice or opinions would be helpful while we make this decision.
