Can you share any ideas, articles, or posts on how we’re going to defibrillate the world economy?
Not about if it’s safe, when, or what “the new normal” will be.
Some thoughtful, substantive ideas about how we’re going to reboot the economy when we do is what I’m looking for.
Thanks in advance!!
There were 4 big things so far in this event:
for the first time in the modern world people have feared a real treat on a physiologic level, people tend to focus on ensuring physiologic things when they are threatened
finance has had repercussions of a real life event, wars don't have such a big impact usually. Instability will remain high, and traders will fear quick market moves for a few year.... (yes, it went up, after several safety triggers and measures impaired the usual way things work and I mean trillions...)
supply chain is a mess. You don't have extra containers in fact, it's a tight never ending rotation. Planes are stuck on the ground which means dhl is gonna get hella expensive. And the sub sub sub sub contractor is waiting for the end user to get back to work so he can. The dream of making stuff outside of china is just a dream, unless you can make cheap workers, which means you have an universal salary largely covering the physiological needs so people will go working just to work and for a little extra. And even in such scenario, china has scale for it, and materials, so unless your goal as a company is loosing money selling 10 years late stuff, you'll keep buying to them.
last but not least, there are interesting word choices in this weird thing: social distancing actually exist and doesn't mean at all putting a 6 feet distance with other people. Telework and work from home too, and same those doesn't involved having no choice or being in a position that wasn't negociated. Essential workers, involve some non essential ones too...
We can solve things, or we can worsen them, all will depend of each of us ability to analyse and react to things. In my job and company I've seen huge changes those last 45 ish days. I'm lucky my boss saw more or less the same, and we're working to make some of those opportunities and to mitigate the ones with a potential negative impact... But we both know some people in house will refuse the change and hang themselves to a world that doesn't exist anymore.
