I know there is a lot of disagreement about when/how to open things up and what the policy decisions should actually be, but honestly I am very happy to see a data driven approach with public dashboards.

This makes it easier to debate over real policy and better understand why decisions are being made. We can debate about which numbers are the right ranges to aim for and ignore the nonsensical tweets from loud mouthed politicians. Then as time goes on, we can actually hold politicians accountable for their policies and whether they were able to improve certain metrics.

For example, even if you disagree with the actual numbers, a regional policy for opening things up based daily updated numbers that is expressed like this is beautiful:

• At or under a 20 percent positivity rate and increasing no more than 10 percentage points over a 14-day period, AND
• No overall increase (i.e. stability or decrease) in hospital admissions for COVID-19-like illness for 28 days, AND
• Available surge capacity of at least 14 percent of ICU beds, medical and surgical beds, and ventilators

Once COVID-19 is over, lets expand this kind of governance to include as much state policy as possible.
