Mefenamic acid (Ponstan) vs. copper IUD cramps and heavy bleeding

Post Body

Context: 4 months in, I’m facing heavy bleeding which is not annoying me so much as the EXTREME period cramps I’m feeling, which are unbearable, debilitating and don’t go away with maximum dose painkillers. I’m allergic to ibuprofen. I don’t plan on removing this IUD because of my pregnancy anxiety but I’m planning on getting the mini copper IUD as I’m nulliparous.

I’d like to hear experiences on mefenamic acid (Ponstan) and IUD cramps and bleeding. I read some people saying it just delays the bleeding and the cramps and you can only take it for 3 days so you’ll bleed a lot and cramp anyway after. I have access to an anti spasmodic called scopolamine and I don’t like taking it exactly because I feel like it slows down the bleeding through preventing uterine contraction (which relieves pain, indeed), so I even bleed for more time than normal.
