I have a progesterone allergy (I’m even allergic to my own progesterone but the exogenous progesterone gives me worse reactions to the point it becomes dangerous. I get swollen eyelids and lips), I have a diagnosed anxiety disorder and when I didn’t have this IUD, I’d get constantly paranoid about pregnancy even when I correctly used condoms. Any little accident during my fertile window (I have very regular cycles) would make me psychologically sick for days. I live in a country where abortion is illegal, half of Brazilian mothers are single moms and I don’t have a steady partner. So you get where my pregnancy anxiety comes from.
Now this IUD (that I got 4 months ago) gives me cramps and spotting the WHOLE MONTH (and it’s correctly placed), I feel pain when I do physical exercise/effort and during/after sex, I even feel pain when I get horny and my vagina contracts, I feel pain during masturbation without penetration, my cervix feels way more tender now, everything feels inflamed, when I get my period I bleed so much I have to change my maxi pad from 2 to 2 hours, the cramps are so strong I can’t do anything and I feel like I’m going to throw up or pass out. On the other hand, I feel way more relaxed about pregnancy now. I don’t even get worried anymore. I already had 2 condom accidents during my fertile period with this IUD and the only thing I had to worry about was STIs (and I’m all good, thankfully). It relieves a lot of my anxiety.
Anyway, the doctor who performed my last ultrasound said my uterus does fit the T IUD but as I’ve never been pregnant, my cavity is small and maybe the IUD is poking me when my uterus contracts and that’s what’s causing daily pain and intermenstrual bleeding. He said that maybe a mini IUD would be more comfortable but I’ll have to pay for that one (I got the T for free at a public health clinic). I’m checking the options and maybe getting it changed but I don’t wanna give up on this method.
