I removed my copper IUD this morning after 5 years of having it. I’d like to use this thread to share my experience in the next months as I had myself a lot of questions throughout the years.
My doctor recommended me to come during my period to help with the pain. The removal was short and not painful. I did feel a tiny pain in the uterus when she pulled it but that’s it. I experienced a few cramps today but nothing major. I’m on day 4 of my period which is usually quite light but the removal made my period heavier, which I didn’t expect. I also feel super dizzy and with a migraine since this morning. I don’t know if it’s due to the lack of sleep or a mix of everything but I had to get off work and go home where I napped.
I don’t know if it’s psychological but I do feel lighter around my belly/uterus, as if finally a foreign object was removed from my body.
Happy to answer questions in the next days/months.
