[UPDATE BELOW]
For some time now I’ve been playing around with something I call #spaghettiwesternfood.
It’s a mashup of Italian classics and country-western cooking/comfort food, including burgers and especially “ugly burgers.” I give them titles relating to the characters in the Sergio Leone films that inaugurated and gave rise to the genre.
I’ve made a number of ugly burgers with different Italian-ish ingredients like sun-dried tomatoes etc.
What would you put on a burger to give it an Italian flare? Or how would you combine a burger with an Italian dish?
I need something different for tonight.

***Update: Thanks (🙏🏻🙏🏻) for everyone’s ideas. I went to the store to get ingredients around the 16th comment or so, but I’m definitely going to pursue the ideas I saw discussed. In the meantime, and based on what I read, here’s what I came up with: “Double patty with prosciutto crisps, smoked provolone and sautéed mushrooms on a toasted ciabatta bun.”
