Looking at ceramic knives. Are they as good as steel knives?

I'm not going to go out and buy Henckels or some other high end knife set. But I'd like to try a ceramic chef's knife to see if they are any good. I've read the pros and cons but still not convinced.
Anybody have experience with ceramic knives? Any recommendations?
