Help! Beef pie dilemma!

I have some friends coming round for dinner. I made a beef pie mixture in the slow cooker yesterday and put it in the fridge and this morning I made shortcrust pastry.
Should I reheat the beef pie mixture before putting it in the dish and then putting the shortcrust pastry on top? Or should I put the cold mixture in the dish and the pastry on top and put it all in the oven together? 😅
