Edit: for clarification, the dip I made doesnât have cheese and itâs not meant to be cooked. Itâs a cold dip. Not the same thing as spinach artichoke dip. Other than it was baked for 20 minutes, I donât know what went wrong with it. I tasted it before I packed it up and it was fine. Iâve also been making it for over 20 years, I know the recipe like the back of my hand. Also, yes, I included my own cooking blunders throughout the comments.
Itâs my first time posting here and I just wanted to share a funny story with yâall. (Please, share yourâs too!).
Last Christmas a friend of mine was hosting at her house and due to an unexpected emergency, she was feeling overwhelmed and asked me to help.
So, I made a few things for her to pick up the day before. Pinwheel sandwiches, fudge, snickerdoodles and spinach dip. I make the standard spinach dip, but with leek soup mix instead of the vegetable one. Itâs one of the things that always gets wiped out.
A few days later, Iâm chatting with her cousin who was there and she tells me it was really nice and the food was great. Except the spinach dip.
So, I asked what was wrong with it. âI donât know where she got the recipe, or what she did, but it tasted like an ashtray!â
I call my friend to ask her what happened. âWellâŚI didnât want to say anything, but we tossed It. I popped it in the oven for 20 minutes, it never got bubbly like it usually does and it tasted weird.â
âYou did what?!â
Yâall. She thought it was artichoke dip.
Edit: Some of your comments are reminding me of my own kitchen screw ups lol. Goes to show for any new cooksâŚwe all have our off days!
