My dad got expensive cooking knives from costco that are dull

The brand is CUTCO. Dunno why they're dull, and he says they're expensive.
Wondering if there's something we don't know, like sharpening?
Thanks

I have one Cutco knife and several Global knives. I won't say Cutco is garbage, but it's nowhere near as good as my Globals. I sharpen my knives myself, and I just can't get the same edge on my Cutco that I can on my Globals.
(And anyone who cooks needs to know how to sharpen their own knives. With whetstones. It's not that hard.)
