I know this will offend a lot of people but, so be it. I think it's pretty hard to deny. And, I predict anybody who responds negatively, likely a parent, will just respond with insults or quips to me... because you just don't like what I'm saying, it offends you, which it should - but that doesn't mean it's not true. And that's not a rebuttal to what I'm saying. I challenge a true rebuttal... it'll be pretty hard, since it's obviously true.
Obviously,
We are wired to reproduce. All life is, all life that exists - is the result of that version of that species being the one which was good at reproducing, hence why it's still here, hence why we're here...
So, it's ofc the most natural thing in the world.
But, from a human perspective, given that we have the ability to sort of 'out think' our nature, hence us using condoms to block nature's purpose of sex and just use it for our own pleasure,
Given that - if you think about it - most people who rave about their children and having children, when I hear people, it's because the child is a mini-them. And a lot get excited by that. Which, we accept and think is cute because of this context we're so used to, but any other context... if somebody was like 'omg, me!!' we'd be like 'ew?', that's what people are doing - when they're having children and fawning over them, they're fawning over a version of themselves; they've produced a little replica of themselves to fawn over and then have love them. It's kinda gross, and narcissistic, for sure.
'OMG HE'S JUST LIKE ME, LOOK AT THE LITTLE ME. AREN'T I ADORABLE?'. Gross.
You can say that about everything you do.
"Oh you did this? Well it was JUST FOR YOURSELF".
I mean. Maybe. But it's reducto ad absurdum.
