What does contrave do for you/binge eating rant
Post Body

I'm close to tears writing this. I had to stop Keto because the people i live with blame all my medical issues on it. I'm not emotionally safe to ignore them and continue it anyway. That said, I want badly to learn to live like a normal person with just being aware of calories and good foods and portion control. So that's been my last two weeks- calorie counting and food logging in MFP. I thought I was doing well but I've gone from 169 to 172 in half a month. And while I think a lot of that isn't true weight gain, looking at my log I see the days I said "ok I ate my calories Monday so I can eat more today" added up, and I didn't do as well as I kept telling myself I did.

I need about 1300 to lose at my weight and activity level, and was averaging 1800 a week or more. I'm a wreck with guilt. MFP says I'm on track to gain about 5lbs if I keep eating like this in about a month.

I just got the text that my contrave was delivered. I'm so scared that nothing will change though. Does this med really work to make you accept not having seconds when you're not truly hungry? Does it really cut the impulse to say fuck it when you've gone over your calories, and then binge because you've already messed up?

I guess tldr what did this med change in you, and support on my shitty two week progress in impulse control would be nice. Like, if I stick with it even if I over eat but log every day, does this really get easier? How can a med make you opt for extra veggies over extra pasta? Do you have an easier time meal prepping rather than eating take out for convenience? Does it effect your hunger levels?

Personally, i do look at certain foods and get grossed out. It was originally an antidepressant so it actually does do ā€œbrain thingsā€ I have 0 cravings and donā€™t feel any hunger pains. My mouth will still water and I can hear my stomach growl but I havenā€™t felt hungry since Iā€™ve been taking it. It feels like my stomach is numb.
