I’ve been planning to start a residential remodeling company focusing on kitchens and baths and other smaller carpentry type jobs. My plan is to keep my overhead as low as possible and be a one man show, utilizing subcontractors when needed but plan to do a lot of the work myself especially on smaller projects, at least in the early years of my company.
I have created a business plan and have a detailed list of steps I need to take in order to get it off the ground. I’m curious to hear how prepared some of you guys were when starting your company or did you just go for it? Part of me feels like I need to be more prepared and part of me feels like I’m having analysis paralysis.
I currently work with a remodeling company now, and am curious how some of you transitioned from leaving your company to being fully on your own.
Sorry for the long post but any advice would be appreciated! Always very intelligent contractors on this thread.
