I finish up a project today and the homeowner pays with a personal check. First thought was mobile deposit but the bank wasn’t to far away so I figured I would swing in and cash it. I like to have cash on hand.
Check was for 4200.00 thru Webster bank. I get to the teller. Present the check, my idea, and say I would like to cash it ( I don’t have an account at Webster) After a few minutes fiddling with her computer she picks up the phone and calls the account holder to ask if he made out the check since “ you never write checks”
Is this normal? I look the typical contractor part. I was just taken back.
