Hello r/Construction
I have a set of stairs that I am hoping to remove a couple of inches from the treads. Photos attached hopefully show the exact idea I have. I would like to cut the stairs and have a gap between the stairs and the wall they are currently attached to. Wondering what additional supports will be needed under the stairs to have them be sturdy enough for body weight.
The yellow circled portion on the first photo would be the part Iād like to remove.
I can send additional photos if these do not show what would be needed to assess the question. Let me know any thoughts or ideas! Thank you
