I recognized this phrasing from a specialized psychology class a few years back. The current attitude is very much one of anti-enforcement, but pro-coddling and safety ropes. I’d say nets, but they’re going to end up hanging themselves if they continue down this path. I’m not for a nanny state, but I’m not for total lack of government resource allocation—as long as those resources are managed appropriately and effectively, and not being diverted into personal interests.
