Won’t be an ID card. More like a digital ID wallet. So banking, government details, medical records, all in one connected system. You then give approval for who wants to access it. EU is pushing their system this year.

For some idea, Thales( from their website “Thales is a global technology leader with more than 81,000 employees on five continents. The Group is investing in digital and “deep tech” innovations – Big Data, artificial intelligence, connectivity, cybersecurity and quantum technology – to build a future we can all trust.

In the markets of defence and security, aerospace and space, digital identity and cybersecurity, Thales provides solutions, services and products to help its customers – companies, organisations and governments – to carry out their critical missions. ”

They are working with EU on the ID program. They did make this promotional video around 4 years ago https://youtu.be/PxvNzzgoJX8?si=HhhTUGfRq_kIUCyn

Also date for your calendar 16 September international Identity Day (ID Day)
