I wasn't expecting anything this year due to the pandemic and the slim margins, the delays and confusion, the business being significantly slower. A coworker also left recently which left the company in quite a pinch, and I had to pick up some new roles/tasks. Still, I didn't expect anything. Is it sad and naïve to say I was just grateful to still have a job?

Anyways, my boss brought me into his office today and surprised me with a raise! I've only been at this company for about 2 years now, but they have treated me so well. Hopefully things will get better in 2021 and I can continue to work hard in a friendly work environment with management that takes cares of its employees.

Part of me feels guilty somehow knowing that so many people out there are struggling and that many businesses are closed, some never to recover. But I just had to share this happy news with someone, anyone since I don't really have people to share such news with. It's going to be a lonely and quiet holiday season, so I'm glad I have this one great thing through all this. Be safe and be well. :)
