My house is a mess. An utter mess. I lived in a meticulously clean house growing up, so I see clutter as something really bad in the eyes of others. It doesn't bother me, but I worry it bothers others. I'm in the middle of a major declutter right now AND we just had a water leak that caused damage to the floors and walls. I no longer have those floors and walls, just cement and holes in the wall. Plus the dishwasher broke and I have a backup of dishes My house is a disaster zone right now, to say the least. But, I had plans, so I cleaned the room we would be in the best I could and I had friends over. I was so anxious leading up to things I was nearly sick. But I allowed people into my real-life reality and let them see the mess. And we still had a good time. I still have a lot of work to do to overcome my cognitive dissonance with clean spaces. But this is something happy I can report to my therapist.
