Airborne infantry slow asf

They only travel quickly when air assaulted from my air strip. I can move them to a Allied airstrip but cannot get air assault range from THAT base..
Plus after I launch a air assault somewhere else. (No matter Forrest suburb mountain or jungle climate) it takes like a DAY to move ONE province..
How do I fix this? Or is airborne just a shitty infantry
