I was in a scary car accident today. Picture of car attached after the accident. We were stopped at a red light waiting for it to turn green, and a guy crashed into us from behind (back driver’s side) going at least 50mph I’d estimate given the impact and how far our car moved from its stationary position. I remember feeling a very hard impact to my head, not sure if from air bags, side of the car, or both. I was on the side that got hit. I felt very confused and lightheaded. I didn’t pass out or throw up. My head has been hurting since the accident and I feel very sad like I can’t stop crying, even though I’m not actually too sad. EMTs said I likely have a concussion but I chose not to go to the hospital. We were all lucky to walk away from the accident. There were 3 of us in the car. Mainly venting here. I feel shaken. Has anyone gone through something similar? What should I expect in terms of symptoms or progression of concussion over the next few days/weeks? What symptoms to look out for and see a doctor for? Any comforting words would be appreciated too.
