Hey all, quick question on leveling out cement block for a window install. I am used to installing windows with wood so I cut two holes in my garage walls which are cement and made them big enough to fit framing for wood so i can attach the wood to the block and install wood headers and do a normal install. What type of cement do I use to level off the block after the cut to make everything flush, just any bag of sakrete or do i want say quikcrete from the concrete yard stores? Also how do i handle the top and bottom blocks aka the horizontals do i just fill them until its packed, there are about 5 courses below the window and one course above the window. Also going to install rebar on the vertical sides, not sure if needed but I have seen it suggested so why not.
You can use basic quickcrete to fill the sill blocks. Clamp a form board on each side of the opening with the inner one a bit higher.
Use type S mortar for the sides and top.
Can you share a few pics?
Sounds like you need mortar, not cement. You will want type S mortar and good trowel.

No worries... Quickcrete, Sackrete, same thing.. any 4000psi high strength concrete mix will work.
