Post Body

My therapist told me the urge to pick goes away once you implement tools to help stop picking. Like one day you can just wake up and not feel like picking. My life is changed. I thought it would always be hard and I’d have to constantly remind myself not to pick. But apparently it goes away once you’ve taught yourself not to!!

Also she explained the wiring in our brains like this: we’re used to taking one path to get to our destination. But one day, we find a shortcut. Sure, we’ll poke ourselves on brambles and get dirty while clearing a path, but eventually it gets easier. This continues until we can take the shortcut without thinking.
