I've been a picker for a while now without realizing. I used to not pick at my sores consistently like I do now. But recently I've been picking at them non-stop until there are decently deep wounds. Like I'm at the part they call the slough I believe. So, definitely not the best-
My pain picking spots are my breast(14 sores), my face(my nose is a big one I pick at constantly), my hips, and my shoulders. My breasts are the worse by far. The sores are red around them and tender, but even though it hurts I just continue you to fight through the pain and pick. My fingers end up covered in blood from how much I do it and I believe my longest picking session was around two hours.
I plan to speak with ym therapist about my urges and see what steps I can take next to help my skin heal and stay healed. Here are a few factors of why I pick at my skin so often. I am Infront of the mirror alot. I have a small bladder which means I gotta go to the restroom alot and we have mirror like most bathrooms do. Showers are a big factor as well. My sibling has extracting tools that I love to use and definitely does not help heal my skin lolol. I'm never busy and bored alot of the time so I have plenty of spare time to pick at my skin. Though I will be starting a job soon so hopefully that helps a bit. I also have long nails, but I really do not like having short nails. If I have an itch somewhere, I won't be able to itch it as well. (And then I'll be really annoyed lol)
My plan is to first try to limit the amount of sores I pick at, gradually lowering it. I guess kind of weaning myself away from it. Then I'd like to eventually get some of those pimple patches to have them covered so I won't pick at them. I've been having to 1 my nose covered because I made a decent sized scab there which helps calm my urges to pick that specific area since its covered. But be proud of me because I haven't picked at it in two days!
Hehe anyway, if anyone has any tips that could help me, I'd love to hear them. Hope everyone has a nice day!
