Massive overwatch fan and ranked player until we fell into that 99% mercy pick rate meta. Put 600 into the game playing almost exclusively ranked until season 5. The game balanced itself more into the hands of annoying characters, easy to play characters with disproportionately high output, CC abilities etc.
I had no excitement for ow2 until I started watching the midseason madness tournament. This was the first tournament I had watched since season 1 of OWL. I was blown away by how balanced the game was. Different tanks, healers and dps on almost every map. I was telling all my friends about how it looks like everything we wished the game was and how throughout the entire tournament there were only 3/4 characters that didn't see use.
This all changed during the summer showdown qualifiers.
The very first 2 characters they decide to add to the game fall right back into the habits they set out to destroy.
CC abilities on both characters right after removing a bunch of annoying CC. A tank with CC, bleed, a speed boost, a health boost, and anti heal. Literally all on the same character. And they thought that wouldn't be over powered? And a dps character that's function is to spray, and then hit one button for immediate massive damage.
This obviously shrunk that beautifully balanced meta down to only 5/6 characters.
It seems like they have immediately reverted back to old habits.
I'm sure these characters will be nerfed soon but it's an eye opening look into their design philosophy and how they seemed to have learned nothing.
Does anyone feel the same or disagree?
Just don't comeback bye bye
