Simple solution to save the Tank role , add a new role called "Off -Tank" .

The Off- Tank class is not true tank but a hybrid , less health but can output slightly more damage than a true Tank if you go for a more DPS/TANK . Can NEVER output as much damage as a true DPS character though
Or imagine a Tank that's a hybrid between a healer and a tank . Not better at healing than a true healer but can stay in the fight longer than a true healer .
